Beta 5 is Done! – Revised Timeline

Beta 5 is Done! – Revised Timeline

Here we are, just finished beta 5; implemented and incorporated all provisions we mentioned before for the testing. We're entirely prepared to perform our beta testing. It's really shameful that the situation turns out to be like this, but I guess that's part of the challenge. Anyway, I just wanted to briefly update you about our progress here in the extension of the previous update. We made some notable changes to our timeline in alignment with the decision we made and announced last week of not having any release in 2020. Here is how our timeline would probably be looked like for the rest of the year. We carefully monitor how the COVID-19 situation evolves. We're going to make a decision about whether we can perform the beta test in…

F.U.C.K – Facing Unavoidable COVID-19 (K)aveats: No Release in 2020

This update seems to be a tough one, a depressing one. We are frustrated, and this is undoubtedly a devastating time for most small businesses. An epoche that nothing but uncertainty surrounded us. We had a meeting this morning, and I'm going to discuss the most notable outcome of it here. As much as we want to trick ourselves that we can test this or that part of the system until pandemic restrictions loosen a bit, we can't ignore that it is, in fact, a horrible time to release/test the app. I tried my best in this note to elaborate on our reasoning. The Problem Our business model, more than any conceptual or logistical aspect, is affected by this pandemic. That is, we cannot leverage our revenue streams until the situation…

Quick Update On Testing Preparation

Quick Update On Testing Preparation

We have been working on Beta 5 for about a couple of weeks now. I decided to update you on our progress and discuss a change that we've made to the timeline. As I stated before, we're going to perform the first beta test at the end of this phase with a set of privately selected volunteers. They will be external end-users without any prior exposure to the idea or the system. Testing Procedure Refinement As we were doing final internal tests, we noticed a significant improvement opportunity in the testing procedure. We thought it would be much better if we incorporated a couple of provisions before the beta test. These provisions go a long way to make everything easier for both testers and us during the beta trials that…

Beta 4 is Done!

Beta 4 is Done!

We are only one step away from releasing our app for its first beta test. During beta 4, we finalized the iOS and Android versions of the app that we are going to release to our beta testers. In the next phase, we are supposed to prepare the means of communication and testing for our beta testers. To some extent, we also managed to catch up with a delay we experienced in the previous phase. If you have followed my recent updates, especially the Beta releasing ones, by now, you probably know our standpoint. We have already been somewhat skeptical about whether we can proceed with the beta testing at the end of phase Beta 5, which is the next one. Good News The good news is we decided to…

Beta 3 is Done!

Beta 3 is Done!

It was an eye-opening and tough phase. Put us a week behind our timeline. That's, however, not a big deal compared to that we are not really optimistic that the current state of the world let us hold our full-scale beta test by the end of Beta 5 phase. Love vs. Logic It's really ironic that as much as we love to get our app out, we may unconsciously procrastinate because of this novel coronavirus pandemic. Deep down, we know it's really not a good or even a regular time to start promoting the app. It's doesn't mean that we're not working hard enough; it means we're a little reluctant to take over the key tasks to get prepared for a public announcement. Somewhat, because most of those key-tasks such…

Beta 2 is Done!

Beta 2 is Done!

We’re pretty much on track. We’ve just finished compiling and designing the help documentation for the app. Although users must and can use any features of the app without reading on them, we went as far as to create a comprehensive help doc. What else could we’ve done in this COVID-19 situation? I mean, we should have killed time somehow! But on a serious note, It’s going to come handy when users want to find out more about a particular feature in the app or the business logic behind various operations. In the next phase, we are going to enhance the app performance and its stability in the production environment. I don’t have anything else to add on this, so let’s end this post here, making it a brief one.…

The Show Must Go On, Beta 1 is Done!

The Show Must Go On, Beta 1 is Done!

We couldn't continue our preplanned track in 2020 to beta test and release our project due to the COVID-19 pandemic situation. It affects all aspects of our lives all around the world. It's is undoubtedly the worst possible timing for our projects to go live publicly. Even testing it in the current situation would be relatively questionable. I already explained it in detail in my last update, have a look if you've missed it: https://www.yaashaar.com/2020/02/29/how-coronavirus-fears-affected-our-app-launch-plan/ This is how it always is The truth is sometimes, no matter how hard you worked on something, or how prepared you are, the situation can get pretty f up. But, you know what? Let's accept it and move on. The bright side We chose to look it from another angle, that is, how lucky…

How Coronavirus Fears Affected Our App Launch Plan

How Coronavirus Fears Affected Our App Launch Plan

Days and nights of hard work, sacrificing a lot of immediate gratifications, not attending lots of friendly gathering, not sharing funny quotes or memes in our social media. All were done to keep us focused on our goal; to get this massive project done. We did it eventually. We made both iOS and Android apps ready to get beta tested. Disclaimer: I deliberately chose not to mention the actual names (the project, the company, countries, etc.) as I signed an NDA. However, we, in the company, decided to disclose the apps's tagline at this point for the purpose of this post. We registered our business entity somewhere that wasn't our home country. We managed to get all certificates and licenses we needed to get officially recognized as a promising international…

Alpha 19, the last Alpha, is done!

Alpha 19, the last Alpha, is done!

Done with the development! I would like to gladly announce that we are officially done with our iOS- and Android-App development. At the end of the next phase, Beta 1, we are going to open our first round of beta testing. More information on how to get your hands on our app before anyone else will be published, respectively, by the end of the next phase. Regarding the last phase: Alpha 19 Product launches require a lot of preparation, technical infrastructure, arrangements, and legal work. A few months ago, we started this preparation. During Alpha 19, we pursued it vigorously, along with carrying out the last batch of developing tasks. That's why I haven't been around for a while. Although we're not fully cooked yet ( I guess no one…

Alpha 18 is done!

Alpha 18 is done!

It was probably the most challenging phase we've have accomplished so far, and the lengthiest indeed. By now, it should be no surprise to those who followed me ever since I've started talking about this journey that we're not usually only tackling technical difficulties during different stages of this project. Every single phase, we have to overcome some barriers that were put in place initially by the state of the current world (leaders, politicians, etc.) against startup companies like us. Tackling different sorts of obstacles may sound normal in our eco-system, but trust me, it's way beyond ordinary when you were born in certain geographical places on the map. These inequalities and problems suck up a substantial portion of our enthusiasm, energy, and time as always. I'm not going to…
